Easters on its way..

Try JibJab Sendables® eCards today!

So Easter is just around the corner. I was remembering when I used to go to my grandma's to color eggs. You would put those little tablets into vinegar and color the eggs. Then you would dip them into the vinegar with that magical little copper tool.. Ahh..those were the days...Now days they have all these magical kits where you can make swirls, stencils, and paints..Blargh. I like the memories of coloring my eggs 'old school' with my grandma. Then I would always get these giant magical Easter baskets left from the Easter Bunny..I tell ya, I had a great child hood!

So yesterday I go to Wal-Mart, and why I continue to go to the self-checkout I'll never know! Those things are such a pain in the butt! EVERYTIME it will say to me, "Please put the item in the bagging area" after I've already done it..but then it refuses to accept that, so then it will say, "Please wait for assitance".. blargh. Thats the irony.. I go to the Self-checker, thinking that it will be quicker, but it never is..because the machine always screws it up. So let that be a lesson. lol..

I have to give Sawyer & Payslee a bath today. Lately Payslee has been wanting to get up and run around in the night. I really wish she would not do that..When I tell Sawyer to go to bed, he GOES TO BED..And stays in Bed..But not Pays, she wants to prowl around and get into stuff.. So anyone have any ideas on that one?? I make them walk everyday, so she should be tired, but I'm starting to believe that Payslee might seriously be the energizer bunny!!

Shibbidy do da!

Well Hello! So this morning Lynn and I got into a conversation about Kenny Chesney. He thinks that he is weird because he never kisses or hugs the women that come with him to the awards shows. I don't think its weird, because who knows if he even KNOWS those women! I was pleasantly surprised when a bunch of MEN called in to defend Kenny! Hooray! and Thank you! I do NOT think Kenny Chesney is gay. I never have, and I've talked to several people from the Nashville scene that DO NOT think he's gay..Why is it that people are always looking for a reason to dislike someone? I like his music, and I could care less about his sexual preference.. even though I don't think he's gay!

Tomorrow we are talking about going to the doctor. I went last week for an annual checkup and I always just feel weird when they are doing their examination..I mean what are you supposed to say? You are already in a compromising position, and feel weird, so do you say, "So..how bout those Cowboys?"...or what? Should you just be quiet during the exam? Be thinking about that and call in and tell us tomorrow what you think "Proper Doctor's exam Etiquette" would be..

Oh, and by the way, I got a job as a blogger.. so if you would like to read my other new blog

Things that are Irritating..

So here is a couple of things that are annoying..
1) Wind
2) Wind and Cold
3) Wind and Hot
4) And Wind
5) People that move, and leave their dogs behind to fend for themselves.

I say this because I went home over the weekend and mom had been telling me about these people who had moved out of a house and just LEFT 3 Cairn Terriers there!

So we went over and took pictures of them hoping to find them a home. So if you know of anyone who could give them a good home email me at kc.s@tylermedia.com and I'll give you more information about them. There are 3 of them and they are so happy to see people when you drive up the driveway...they just race up to you like, 'Are you here to be my family?' its so sad..How people could just leave them is beyond me. Thankfully some of the local farmers, and my mom have been stopping by to feed them everyday, so they are not starving, but it still makes me sad. Their hair is all matted and has stickers in it, but I know they would be so cute with a little love and grooming.
The ACM's were good last night. I loved the Trace Adkins song, and I loved the fact that he finally won an award! Yay! I was also happy Jamey Johnson won for song of the year, and that he let my delicious James Otto on stage to accept with him for helping him write. James looked good. I thought Jamey did a good job singing too..in fact almost everyone sounded good last night. I was a little weirded out by Jennifer Nettles and her "Camera faces"..what was that about? It was like watching her on American Idol..I also didn't care for her dress. .I did think Reba did a great job, and I loved all her dresses, and Carrie looked beautiful as always. I think it would have been cool if they had invited Randy Travis to sing with her on "I told you So" though.

Other highlights for me, was of course Rascal Flatts..Even though Lynn didn't think Gary sounded good. I thought he knocked it out of the park! I think Gary has such a unique way of singing, and he really has to lean into it, so I was proud of them. So for me Top 5 Performances:

1) Trace Adkins--Till the last Shot's Fired
2) Rascal Flatts--Here Comes Goodbye
3) Kenny Chesney--We went out
4) The opening number with Brooks & Dunn
5) Jamey Johnson--In Color
I thought it was a great show this year, and I'm so thankful that Trace FINALLY won, plus he speech where he said, "I'm an idiot" made me laugh..I'm so proud of all my boys!!

At the Farm..

Well I'm at the farm this weekend. We are going to a bull sale, and then off to the Elk City farm show. Supposedly they have that magical glue up there that glues anything and everything..so I'm all about that. I love that glue!

Tonight we are meeting friends at the Elk's Lodge for drinks and dinner. It should be fun. The wind was blowing through the night so hard that you could actually hear it through the walls! What a pain. The baby dogs were kindof a pain last night too. They woke me up to go out at 11:36, 3:40, and then 7:00! They are like mini-alarm clocks I tell ya! No sleep for the weary.

Tomorrow Lynn will be doing the Sunday Morning Gospel show to honor Jay Shankle. No one can replace Shank, but we will keep the gospel show going because it is an inspiration to so many people. So listen for Lynn tomorrow from 7-11am.

Jay Shankle passed away

Well I'm sad to say that our Sunday Morning Gospel show guy, Jay Shankle passed away Wednesday night. He had open heart surgery about a year ago, and we had hoped that would take care of the majority of his problems, but he checked himself into the hospital on Wednesday night and his heart was just too tired. He was 66 years old. I didn't get to visit with Jay much over the years, but I always enjoyed listening to his gospel show on Sunday. He was so knowledgeable about the artists, and his show was so heartfelt. He always made me smile with his "Shankisms"..I always knew if I couldn't remember who sang a certain gospel song that I could ask Shank, and he would know the answer!
He will be missed by not only us at King Country, but by everyone that ever heard him on the air. A memorial Service will be held Friday, April 17th at 2pm at Vondel L. Smith & Son located at 6934 S Western in Oklahoma City, and the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.

Jay was inducted into the Southern Legends Hall of Fame! Jay Shankle's radio career began in 1963 at KDSX in Sherman-Denison, Texas. From there he made stops in Wichita (KNIN '65-'68 & KFDI '72-'76) and in Oklahoma City at KTOK from 1968-1972 and KEBC from 1976-1984. It was at that time that he coined the phrase "Shank In Your Tank" as Oklahoma City rode home with him from 3-7.

Jay developed an early love and appreciation of Gospel music by singing in church and attending all day outdoor gospel singings. Jay also has a deep passion for finding hard to get records. In fact, Jay says he would rather find a "long-lost" song that eat or sleep. Those passions make him the perfect host for "The Sunday Morning Gospel Show".

Jay is survived by his two children...Amanda, 21 and Jayson, 18...both students at OU. Jay's favorite saying is "It's better to have loved a short girl, and lost, than never to have loved a tall!"
We'll miss you Shank..

Happy Thursday

Well Hello!
So yesterday I went to the Doctor's office and as I was sitting there being examined I was thinking to myself "What is the Proper conversation etiquette when talking to the Doctor" because usually they are asking you to do weird things while they examine you..Take Deep breaths, lay on your back with your arm over your head, open up and say ahhhh.. So I mean during those times are you supposed to have a conversation with them, or just sit there and do as your told?
I always feel weird, so I make nervous conversation.."So How are your kids?" "Man the allergies are sure bad this year".. "How bout that snow we got!" Its pretty awful, but at least it takes my mind off what is actually happening..
I also got a little irritated when I went to fill my prescriptions..Who in the hell can pay for those?? I got a script for Claratin, Rhinocort, and one other, and it was $276.00!! With Insurance!! What! That is ridiculous!! I can't imagine how awful it would be if I was one of those people who had a monthly prescription and it had to be filled..like Athsma or heart medication..Its just ridiculous what people have to pay! But I did get the rhinocort nasal spray so hopefully it will stop my allergies for a bit.
Thanks again to everyone who has been emailing me about the April Fools day joke. Apparently we fooled a lot of people! But its always nice to be missed and loved, so thank you!

April Fools

I know! We're Sorry! We're Sorry! Yes, we were April Fooling this morning. No, we didn't get suspended (as of yet anyway), and Becca and the "Beav" are actually two of our sales people that work here. I'm pretty proud of them because they had never done any radio before, and agreed to come in and help us with our prank. They had to sit in here for 3 hours listening to people say mean things to them and tell them to go back to Lubbock!! The only sad thing for us was that.....a few people actually liked them!! Woopsie!

So Anyway, the April Fools day joke is over, and everything will be back to normal tomorrow. Or should I say as normal as we get! We sure do appreciate all the calls we got from our listeners that love us! Even though it was an evil joke, its sure nice to be loved and missed sometimes! So thanks to everyone who called in and defended us against and loved on us. We truly appreciate it!
